We give frank rapid response technical advice to the UK Government on Net Zero and other areas such as such as infection resilient buildings, as well as leading long-term projects.
A key conduit of engineering policy recommendations to the UK Government is the National Engineering Policy Centre. Fellows of the IMechE sit on the NEPC’s Net Zero Working Group.
The Government Office for Science recently asked the group to produce a report on “A Systems Approach to Net Zero”. Two of our members contributed to this report.
In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, improving air quality in buildings will be key to reducing the impact of future pandemics. Two of our members provided input to the Royal Academy of Engineering-led commission from Chief Science Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance on infection resilient buildings.
Our members also provided input to Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty’s annual report on air quality.
