The Awards consist of:
This Award has been made possible through a donation by Mrs J Field, daughter of Geoffrey Engert and sister of engineers, Michael, and Neil Engert. Geoffrey Engert being involved within the Building services and HVACR sector and particularly pumps. The decision as to whether to, who to and the value of the award is the full and final decision of the Construction Building Services Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Open to UK Members and Non-Members of the Institution
Closing date for nominations is 30 September 2023.
A circa 800-word application is to accompany the supporting nomination to include:
Examples include:
a. Installation, commissioning, fault diagnosis / repair and maintenance of HVACR systems including controls.
b. Proposals for design or upgrade of existing HVACR plant or systems.
c. Development of HVACR alternative technologies, such as Ground and Air source heat pumps.
d. Development of Building services projects and or products that demonstrate Building Services continuing professional development.
e. As per a-f in a technical related Mechanical (as opposed to Electrical) field.
f. A statement how, if awarded the prize would be spent to assist their career. The statement should be accompanied by supporting validation.
Historically the Prize has been presented at one of the Division’s autumn technical events to maximise the participation in, and the promotion of the Prize to members. The forward going intent where an ‘in person’ event is not practical is to record the Prize winner(s) speech and presentation in November and for it to be ‘aired’ as a part of a Webinar presentation. The presentation to focus on their Engineering experience and progression in their industry sector and potentially for this presentation to be reported in “Professional Engineer” and other publications, including photograph.
